Just a little more time till I return. I am still meditating! Don’t forget my book!
Are you a teacher that believes everyone can learn? If so you might find that some of our forgotten members of society will re-enter the world with new chances. Some of those in correctional facilities made mistakes and would to be inspired by someone with the ability to help teach them. Mind you, this ain’t a job for judgmental folks.
Prisons offer teaching positions in which the instructor is provided with security and other resources to deliver lessons to students. You may help men or women acquire their GED or gain the certification they desire. You’ll give them the tools to re-enter society more prepared. And, for some you may equip them with the mental tools they need to survive their current situation. One word of advice, prisons must function like prisons, therefore you’ll be treated as everyone is treated when entering a prison. You’ll be searched. Prison guards have to adhere to rules and regulations to keep the environment safe. Don’t take it personally. If you consider this position it’d be beneficial for you to read up on the prison culture. There are sects of prisoners, a sort of culture of hierarchy in which the crimes committed attribute to ones level in prison. Example: murders are highly ranked whereas those who commit any type of nuances to their mothers or women are placed quite lowly in prisons and they are subjected to many forms of abuse by other inmates for such crimes. So, read up on the culture and consider this position if you really want to go in and impact lives of those who’ve been forgotten, who knows you may bring some ‘light’ to someone. Which makes me wonder, I am doing all this mediation, it would likely be really great if more prisoners were actually able to meditate too, maybe.
